11/24/08: Cherry Cordial is Now Spun

I thought I was going to ply the cherry to the brown, but decided it ruined the prettiness. So I did the colors separately and will knit something using both colors that hopefully stays pretty looking.

11/23/08: Nut Roll!!!

So here are pics of the crazy amount of nut roll I made for the bake sale. Ok so it wasn't that many really but considering I started at 11pm at night it was a lot :) Anywho it was fun and messy, yay!

Some exploded, some were nice and pretty, all made a mess, and all were wrapped!

11/14/08: What I am Currently Spinning

Isn't it pretty?

CherryCordial_fluff

It is a blend of BFL and mohair and the colorway is Cherry Cordial. I think of it more like cherry coke though, yum. I got it at this years Rhinebeck, which means I really must have liked it to already have it spun up in singles and ready to ply! At the moment I can't remember who I bought it from but I have it somewhere. Pretty sure it was from the same booth my sister bought her wheel from a few years back though, loverly folks there.

TasselsCablesScarf_start

I also started knitting up a scarf (got the pattern at this years Rhinebeck too, crazyness I tell you) in this pretty cashmere merino blend. But I noticed I messed up a cable and I can't seem to move forward on it even though I told myself it is an ok mistake to live with (the mistake is not in the photo I have knitted much more since I took the pic). I think I know I will be ripping it back in my heart and just can't bring myself to do it yet, so it just sits there, while my neck has to make due with older scarves. It is a pretty pattern though and has a hat to match a pretty fun knit to work on, other than my idiotness.

TasselsCablesScarf_pattern

Anywho, it is Friday and I am happy. I shall be making lots o' nut roll tonight for a bake sale. Wish me luck and lots of energy!!! (could end up being lazy and just watching movies instead :)

11/02/08: Candy Corn!!!

So instead of wearing the candy corn sweater for halloween this year, I finished knitting it on Halloween :) It came out pretty fun though and is a super cuddly kind of oversized sweater. I was too lazy to rip it back when I noticed it was coming out a bit larger than I meant it to. But I still love it.

candycorn_jeans

The sister got us some fun slippers from target to go along with it as she was knitting herself a candy corn skirt.

candycorn_slippers2

Really some card she got last year is what made this whole thing come about, a girl was wearing a cute knitted candy corn skirt so we went nuts and wanted to do it too. Below is me in the full crazy neon knitted gear. Not originally intended to overload and be worn all at once, but it is quite an outfit doncha think? I even painted the nails orange for y'all to enjoy!

Hope everyone had a smashing Halloween too!

10/24/08: Monster Mash

Here is a pic of the giant spindle I love from rhinebeck. I am spinning up 4 ounces of merino in the Monster Mash colorway from my Spunky Club Fiber. See my hand for scale. I should have taken the photo with one of my midi's really but am too lazy now :)

I am loving the fun october colors :)

10/21/08: Rhinebeck 08

Was another loverly Saturday drive up. We went a slightly different way than past years and we got to see a hilltop full of sheepies and there were lots of baby sheepies. It is hard to see in my camera phone photo, they are just tiny dots at the top of the hill, but it was a pretty fun site in person. More sheep then I have seen at the festival itself :)

Of course the trees were super pretty too.

And oddly there were kangaroos and lemurs there too this year. I guess I have never really wandered over through the kiddie area before.

I got some stuffs too but my favorite thing is probably the giant drop spindle I got because Melissa needed a plying spindle. It spins for so long, I love it!

09/11/08: Currently Avoiding Staining and Hanging Mirrors...

so I can play on my Wii. Yay! And as my immediate work out plan I got a wii fit and dance dance revolution. It is muchos fun I must say. Not to mention it said my BMI is right about where it should be, although I know I need to lose some fat and turn it into muscle again. But for now it is much fun and not for just me, we are all having a blast, glad I finally got one of these babies.

Also been stock piling some knitting patterns in hopes that my hands will return to the needles again someday in the close by future.

Although even on my train ride I have been video gaming it on my phone lately instead of knitting. It is like I have reverted to my old kiddo days with the first round of nintendo. Man how I loved that track and field pad we had (have). I almost miss having to blow the dust out of the ancient game cartridge to get it to run properly :) Silly CD's just work all the time!

But yeah somehow I MUST hang some mirrors and stain some doors and do laundry and blah blah blah...

09/05/08: The Best of Times...*

Been having good times lately.

Annual Disney trip with the family back in March was loverly.

Got to see lots of old friends in April. And went to a beautiful castle in CT wedding, yay!

May was a fun kid filled picnic as you may recall, he he he. And the usual fiber fun in Maryland, great to have old friends into the knitting too now, can't wait for october!

June trip to Denmark to see our new niece was amazing. So relaxing and pretty, and all the sun that time of year was great! Oh and a little Belgium in between was good and yummy too! I am in love with chocolate and licorice! This was my favorite road sign there :)

Rode the ferris wheel and the swings for the fourth while watching fireworks, and eating Cotton Candy, Carmel Apples, and fried dough!

Had a lamb/pig roast pool party slava at the house. Always a good time. Attempted to play the bass again, I think I enjoy swinging it around more than the plucking and getting blisters part :) My kolach (traditional bread) came out fabulous! Was very excited about that.

Went to the Jersey shore to attempt to surf! Caught waves just never stood up :) (the sister did stand though, cool beans!) Ate yummy mexican style food after. Wish it was closer to home man!

lobster is sooo tasty!

Helped out with a Lobster Dinner fund raiser for my church. Was delicious! And got to see a friends baby fall in love with lobster legs, so cute! He just loved to suck on them. Oh and hello made hundreds of cheddar biscuits like red lobster for this event. Kitchen smelled great for days :) Did I mention how good the corn was?!? yummm...

yay castle. yay fireworks.

Took a drive down to Orlando. Meant to use Winnie's little sister Jett (oh yes we are cheesy and now have Winnie and the Jett for fun motoring purposes) but ended up with Winnie due to Gustav's residual weather. Ate in Cinderella's Castle with the fireworks outside the window. Paddle boated. Swam in the rain :) Ate so much good food! Fulton's Crab House is awesome!! We are talking 12 king crab claws each! Delish! I had Cherry cobbler for dessert, hubs had filet mignon, seriously!

such good food!

And Wednesday we got to go to the U.S. Open. Watched the William's sisters play each other in the quarter finals. AWESOME! and then we got to see #1 Nadal vs. Fish. Also an AWESOME match. Not to mention we ended up court side only 3 rows from the court floor. The fun night lasted til 2:30am. Did I mention the fabulous banana split we shared?

Good grief so now I am trying to pretend to come up with a work out plan to counter act all the eating this last month! Either join a gym, start skating again, work out at home, all 3, none of the above :) Hmm maybe I should rollerblade on the path, been awhile since I did that too!

But yay it has been a fun food filled year so far! And with all this fun, man I only knit one pair of socks all summer! I still need to take the pics though. Good grief :)

* yes I love STYX. Can't help myself.

07/03/08: Finished the Baby Sweater a Month Ago

and here are the pics...
I used this short rows baby jacket pattern with gems sock yarn. Very lovely pattern to follow.

05/31/08: Prepping for a Sunday Picnic

So today we had to prep for a picnic tomorrow. Started the morning off with a trip to A.C. Moore to get face paints. Then we got hair cuts. I am back to serious short hair, less than chin length, sweet! There was band practice, and I picked up a new instrument, da bass. And I am sorry to report I have attained a blister on my finger, ouch! Been a long time since I played anything and my finger tips are weak :) Then since the sis is in charge of face painting we had a little practice session. I did her and my mom, and she did the brother and me, and the brother did the scary arm. He loves the anatomy that guy, crazy. Hope we are not burnt out for tomorrow!!

Tiramisu crocheted blanket. Done. Saartje Baby Booties. Done. Garter Stitch Hat. Done. Short Rows Baby Jacket. Half Done, I have one week to finish it up!

05/23/08: Back to Spinning!

Using the fun tiny spindle I got at Maryland still. This is some December 07 Spunky Club shetland fluff in the Good Morning colorway. I love sitting outside and spinning in the sun :)

05/22/08: More RPMs!

Voila! I have finished another pair of Knitty RPM socks. These are knit using my January Spunky Club wool fiber (walkabout colorway) that I spun up 2-ply. And that is all I have to say about that.

Oh and notice how one sock is more solid stripes and one barber poled more? Fun!

05/17/08: New Goods

Isn't he cute?

So I had a quick little time at the Maryland Sheep & Wool. But it was very nice indeed. I was even behaving really well, and then all of a sudden I blew it :) I finally bought me some Jamie Harmon yarn. Enouh for a whole sweater! I am crazy but have wanted it ever since my first wool festival so I broke down this time.

And I got a cute little spindle and a pound of purple fluff which I am told will spin up like denim sort of. Fun.

05/02/08: Oh My Where Have I Been?

Lot's goin' on chez moi currently, some good, some bad, some happy, some sad. But hey it's alright with me, I love being a random mess of emotion, he he.

In crafty news. I swear I am making stuffs. Lots really. But I am a slacker poster so this is what you see, nada. I have not even put pics up on my ravelry page yet for most of it. Alas, let me think what do I have to remember to post some time?

And so there, tomorrow I am off to Maryland again. I get to see more old friends, yay!

04/01/08: 52 Pair Plunge is Over!

Oops, so as predicted by moi, I did not come close on this one. While I was mostly a sideliner on this plunge, I started out thinking I could at least get half way there, but no, only 13 pairs to my name. Shucks! And I have 2 pair so close but have not touched them since december, shameful! But I figure I have been using up pretty much all of my sock scraps during this plunge, I only have a couple more left. So if you count all the scrapghan squares I have been making, over 100 so far, then maybe I got halfway or more done for the plunge :) he he. Anywho, congrats to all those who made it across the finish line on this one, that is quite a lot of socks!!

03/19/08: The Electric Fountain

I have not had much to post since I was on vacation and have only been knitting more scrapghan squares, no need for a photo update on that. But, I remembered I took pics of this crazy huge electric fountain one day during lunch in Rockefeller Center a week ago, and they seem kind of fun to me, so this is what you get instead of boring afghan squares.

02/28/08: Deep V Update

Yup still knittin' Eunni. My progress on this slowed a bit but I am still pluggin' away at it. Am about 25 rows from finishin' the knittin' and then it is off to steekin' this baby. Yikers! I have it on dpns now since the stitch count is not so much anymore, which should also speed up the last bit o' knittin' I would think.

Sorry, I know I am the world's most boring writer in the world, but still I pretend to blog :) Oh and also I finished that granny afghan I showed a couple days ago, so yay!

02/28/08: Old Projects

Was cleaning up files the other day and came across my old completed knits galleries. So I added them to my progress page. Now you can see most of what I have created since the current obsession of knitting started.

Projects completed in 2003 and in 2002.

02/22/08: SNOW!!!

Finally!! We have not been getting enough snow around here this year. At long last we got 8 or 10 inches today!

02/18/08: Crochet Crazy

Here is a fun little scarf I whipped up. Crochet is nice and fast I must say.

And so then I cast on for a giant granny square afghan. It is zipping by too. Still just using up stash yarn too. Yay!

02/14/08: Happy Valentine's Day!

Was feeling doodl-ie and although these are kind of too late for most to really use I am announcing them now anyway. New Labels! I have been making cookie based labels lately and these latest ones are based on some cookies I made a couple years ago. Enjoy!

02/12/08: The End!

wee hoo done!
Well it got much colder here yesterday and so I had to hurry up and finish the mittens so I could wear them. I love them!

They are a little big on me but I am going to let it slide since they are so pretty and really my hands are tiny, I could not do any of the section that adjusts how long these get or else they would have been huge! Perhaps I should have knit them on 0's instead of 1's so that they would be smaller. Eh, not a big deal really. Ok so with the largeness there was a little too much room in the glove to keep only warm air, and cold air seeped in. This is why as you may have noticed it really does bother me that they are big, but man alive I am trying not to care! Oh but hey I can be like some other folks I know who wear another pair of gloves under their mittens to keep warm, and if I do that then the bigness is needed right? I mean it was cold enough out there today to need more layers so perhaps that is the solution.

Also cause my grey yarn was alpaca it did not pop forward as much as the regia wool so even though the grey is the main color in the pattern it looks like the secondary one which is fine with me since I wanted crazy loud hot pink mittens anyway. Alright, whiny as I may sounds right now I really do like these, and the pattern was easy to follow and lots of fun to work on, so yay to a finish project! Now back to that vest I should go.

02/07/08: Still Mitten-ing

one down...

One down! And am almost to the top of the thumb hole on the second. It was weirdly warm here this week so I did not feel like working on these much, but well it is supposed to get cold again next week so I shall push through so I can wear these at least once this year.

on to the second!

02/01/08: Mitten Update

I was in the zone on my train ride home tonight and so now I have one mitten almost done, just missing its thumb. Yippee!!! They feel a little on the loose side but I think it will be ok. It would be cool if I could have these done for next week, superbowl is pretty long and since I only watch the commercials I think I have a shot :)

01/31/08: More Eunny on the Needles

So of course I strayed, but not too far from the vest, and only because it has been so chilly out that I had to buy a scarf at lunch one day. And it was a crazy hot pink that was begging for mittens to be knit to match. And so was born my version of Eunny's Anemoi Mittens.

I am using some hot pink regia I had left over in the stash from my tulip socks of long ago and some grey alpaca I also already had. See the scarf in the background? They are a perfect match! yay! If I have enough yarn left I would like to knit a hat to as well, so I can have a full set of course. But I am almost to the steeks on the vest so it has not been totally abandonned yet!

01/24/08: More Deep V Action

Actually committing to a single project the last few days here, which means you get another in progress shot of the Deep V argyle vest. I am now on the increases and soon to start my very first steek stitches, exciting times I know :) And every time I pick this up I think to myself hmmm seems like time for some Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies, yum!!!!

01/22/08: Because I am Crazy Like That

I cast on for 2 new projects over this long weekend. Hanging out with the sister will do that to you, as she also has the goods for both of these projects now. The first one is Eunny Jang's Deep V Argyle Vest and the second is Lion Brand's Cable Luxe Maxi.

Due to my huge stash I did not have to buy any yarn for this though, yay. I am using up some stash! Of course when I start a new project I am all excited to hurry up and knit it, so hopefully I actually finish these. I love that one is so cable-y and one is fair isle, two very different techniques will lessen my getting bored abilities :) Or so we hope at least!

01/17/08: Old Stuff I Could Not Show Earlier

Well I had a banner year for knitted gifts this past Christmas. I nearly finished everything I set out to do, which included:
6 pairs of socks
3 scarves
2 Christmas Stockings
and
7 or so washcloths

See below for what was not yet posted here:

Chevron Scarf for Cranky Monkey (if you read her she already posted about this :)

Garden Scarf for my Grandmother (started when I posted the pattern, but only actually finished it in December :)

Gingerbread and Tree Washcloths/Dishcloths for Friends

What is not quite finished are 2 socks. I am to or past the heel on both though and the recipients each got one complete sock on Christmas day so I was so close, but then I was all burnt out and have not wrapped those up yet, oops!

Sock 1 for my Brother

Sock 1 for my Father

I also made my own ornaments as you saw before, but what you did not see was that I again made some magnets. Well lots of magnets and more complicated than last years I must say. Good thing I had sibbling help :) I was very into gingerbread anything this past season. I even made a nice gingerbread tree decorated with mini m&ms. I have to get the photo from my sister so I can show you all that one.

Magnets Galore!

Besides that I have been slowly picking up the needles again so there will be more to come as usual.

12/22/07: Happy Christmas to All!

Well here are my pics of late. Am starting to feel better at long last, yay!

I made christmas ornaments for my tree this year using my favorite Crayola modeling magic clay. I had the help of me sister as well. I am pretty happy with how cute they turned out.

And as I mentioned before I finished both stockings! Yay. You can see the insides as well as the out. For the tree one I changed the top and bottom to green since the attern had it all beige and I wanted it to go more with the other stocking. I think it worked out well.
Pattern: Annie's Woolens "Evergreen" and "Holly" Christmas Stockings
Yarn: Knit Pick's Wool of the Andes

And then I was inspired to make a little mini stocking ornament with some sock yarn I had. Made up that one myself and am thinking I will want to make a bunch more for next years ornament project :)

Anywho hope everyone out there has a very healthy and happy holiday!

12/20/07: Am Sick :(

Yuckarooneys. I have so many Christmassy things I wanted to be sharing here this past week or so, but I have been hit with a stupid cold turned pink eye and is now in the form of a nasty sinus infection and it is ruining my pre-holiday prep time I must say. Oh well it could be worse. But I have a bunch of new ornaments for my tree my sis helped me make this year. I love them and will share them here soon I hope. I even finished both stockings, yay! Of course I will need to line them for next year but for now they still look nice hanging around. Am doing pretty well with the gift knitting even if I ended up scaling it back a bit. I feel ok about it which is nice. I am just hoping that by this weekend I can be up and running like almost normal and not need tissues attached top my hip. It is really getting old after 2 weeks of this stuff. Singing for choir has been really pretty from me, ha ha! And so it looks like while I have something for most people I wanted to shop for already, I have not actually hit the stores yet at all. I am saving that up for Christmas Eve, oh yeah I feel brave :-) And if I don't make it, eh, it will still be a Merry Christmas I believe.

12/06/07: Christmas Stamps

I am obviously loving the knit Christmas Stamps available this year! Yay!

12/05/07: Socks Pairs 13 & 14

Nothing to exciting to show at the moment but I have started on 2 more pairs of socks. Both are now at the heels of the first sock. Hoping to wrap them up by the 25th of course.

I have been working on the stocking as well but had to rip back the foot twice now, grrrrr.

11/27/07: Christmas Knitting is in High Gear Here

I was lucky enough to have last week off for the holiday and so I have much progress on the Christmas knitting front.

First off the needles is a handspun pair of socks. Love how this yarn turned out, it is a 3-ply yarn I spun from a Spunky Sock Kit called Down in Flames knit on size 2 needles which for me is a big needle making it a fast sock to knit :) Now I just have to wait and hope they fit the recipient.

Next up is one of two planned Christmas Stockings. Loving knitting a giant sock it goes even faster than the handspun! Knitting it on a 12 inch US 8 circular needle so it is a lot more even than when I tried it on my dpns. Almost done with the foot and then I get to add the heel and toe. I am using this pattern.

11/26/07: After the Turkey

We had a loverly thanksgiving here, hope you did too! And then the following day the sis had another birthday. So I made her a colorful cake using the jello meringues I mentioned before. Turns out that the jello was too strong for my tastes, plain old meringues are yummier, but they did make for fun decoration on the cake.

Amy  Baking

11/20/07: Finished the Dragon Scarf!

This is such a fun pattern to knit. And I love Morehouse Merino's yarn! So soft and easy on the needles. The scarf came out a little smaller than I expected, so not to be worn on a really windy day, but it is fun. This one is a gift though so I hope they like it.

11/18/07: Rocket Pops Complete!

Yay! This baby has been sitting in a basket for months just missing one tiny sleeve. And now I get to wear it at last! It is such a soft squishy raglan and so colorful, I just love it!

I knit this with some of my handspun Spunky Merino in the Rocket Pops colorway into a 2-ply worsted weight yarn. Then used this pattern to work a top down raglan. I am pretty happy that I had enough to knit a real sweater with it, even if it has short sleeves, I think I only had 8 ounces of the fluff.

Up next on the finishing block my super chunky turtleneck or will it be the alpaca cardi??? (yes that one has been stalled for such a long butt time!!!)

11/14/07: Still Knittin' and The Creation of the CrapApple

Welp yeah I have been knitting lots lately. Some of it is secret knitting though so no pics yet my friends. Others are not so secret and still I have no photos. Am hoping this weekend I will get a chance. Cause I finished a sweater! If you can believe it, I mean it has been way too long since that has happened ya know. I am also really close to finishing 2 more that I have been working on for a good long time. But I really want to knit up some christmas stockings this year so they may come first? I started them last year but never picked it up again. Hope the gifties don't get in the way of my getting to that project. But rats I only have so much train knitting time :) Maybe tonight I shall get through some during Pushing Daisies. I am sooooo tired though. Maybe I will just sleep for once!

But most likely I will be trying my hand at making these. They just seem so cute and yummy. My last foray into baking led into the creation of the crapapple. Well that is what I call it anyway. I was all excited to make tiny strudels but then realized um I can't roll filo dough that tiny. So I made some ugly lookin' things, and then opted to just layer it in a square pan, cause now the dough was cut and couldn't just be made into normal sized studels. So yeah it tasted ok, almost just like it should, but I really needed more sugar and spice in it not to mention how ugly it all looked in the end. Ugly dessert just doesn't taste as good to me for some reason. So I need to make a rebound cute dessert to make me forget the crapapple. And tiny jello meringues sound like just the ticket! Easy and pretty, yay!

11/05/07: New Labels!!!

I am finally putting up new gift labels for those who may want to use them to dress up their gifties.

Fall Label

Winter Label

Original Labels

Now, I had new Christmas labels done as well, but somehow I lost the files and poof! Rats! Oh well at least there are some fall and winter generic labels to play with.

So don't forget 'tis now the season for all the gift knitting craziness, I know I am starting to lose feeling in my hands already!

11/02/07: iPod Upgrade

I had to upgrade my iPod recently which meant I also had to upgrade my sleeve for it.

I used my own little pattern for this but added some stripes this time around.

11/01/07: One Done...One Still Going...

I finished my handspun garter stitch scarf a couple months ago, but forgot to post about it. Now that I am actually wearing it since it got colder I figured I would put it up here. This is probably my most even spinning of all time and the fluff is from The Sheep Shed. This has to be my favorite place to get merino from, it is prepared so nicely. I think I have enough yarn left to make matching gloves, we shall see.

Oh and I picked up my Chevron scarf again. Makin' good progress on it this time around, guess I am into purple scarves right now :)

10/31/07: Put on a Costume or a Spirited Shirt at Least

Ok so we didn't have time to carve or paint or even bake any pumpkins around here this year, as you can see above we have done in the past. But we are wearing cute shirts at least!!

Happy Halloween

10/30/07: Dragon Scarf Start

In the spirit of Halloween, I am working on a Moorehouse Merino Dragon Scarf kit I got at Rhinebeck this year. I was so well behaved only bought this and some fluff, of course we were only there for like 2 hours at the end of Sunday :) And, we did have a loverly fall drive through some very pretty and windy country roads that afternoon!

And Carolyn was right, I was very close to done with those socks, so above on the right is the finished pic of the pair. I used the same cable patern I came up wth for my trekking socks but these are knit with Fortissma Disco sock yarn that has a metalic thread running through it so it sparkles.

10/29/07: Blue

More cabled socks on the way. And some spinning in progress.

10/15/07: 2 More Pair

Finished up my cabled trekking socks. And a pair knit with regia yarn using Knitty's RPM pattern.

I think that brings me up to 9 pairs of the 52 I am shooting for.

10/08/07: Haunted Graveyard

Went to the best Haunted "House" ever this weekend! I love halloween and last year we did the Sleepy Hollow Jack O'Lantern Blaze, which was awesome too but not scary. This Haunted Graveyard was a fun scare I must say. We were laughing and screaming and applauding the whole way through the 45 minute long set up. Really well done scenery and several complete themes throughout. The ghoulish actors had fabulous timing. No photos aloud, drat! It all has to live in my memory (you can get a little taste on their website).

If you live nearby I totally recommend going to Lake Compounce to see it!

09/25/07: Back to Socks

Ok so I have not been doing too much knitting lately, but am starting to get back into it with some socks.

The first pair is actually finished! Started these a few years ago and got bored working on them since they are just plain ribbed knee highs. But somehow I re-motivated and flew through the second one. Yay! I was using regia banner stripe yarn.

Next up is some koigu and regia solid 4-ply. Started to play around with a 2-color sock from the Sensational Knitted Socks book. I got to the heel and am a little confused as to what I am supposed to do for the gusset and so put it aside to start yet another sock.

The last sock on the needles is some trekking yarn in a cabled pattern that I just made up as I went along. It isn't that original but I didn't refer to a pattern just played around with the ribbing until I liked it.

Ok that is all for now. Ciao!

09/16/07: New Look

Dunno why, but I felt like playing around with the look of the site. Not sure if I am thrilled with the posts page color, but this is it for now. I based this on a little doodle I did awhile back.

09/07/07: Overload!!

Man I had a serious spamming problem last week. Sorry to anyone whose comments were lost in the mayhem, I had a lot of cleaning up to do and I think I wasn't as careful as I should have been in some cases. My email was all filled up too and I had not idea. So I was lost in space for a bit there. Will try to return to a more regular me soon.

08/31/07: Dictionary

08/27/07: Yay! I Get to Order a Wheel!

The hubby said that for my birthday present I can order meself a wheel! So excited, yay! I am such a fiber nerd :)

08/15/07: Super Soft

So I was perusing in Anthropologie one afternoon and I noticed a stack of yarn! Now I love that store more than I already loved it*, if that is at all possible. And next to the yarn was the Twinkle's Big City Knits book. Hmmmmm. I know there are few fans of a chunky knit sweater out there**, but this was the actual yarn called for in the pattern book and it is seriously super soft and tempting.
yellow_chunk_start
So I came home with a bunch, did I mention it was cheap? I mean like half off of it's normal price, so how could I resist? I plan to make 2 of the patterns with my hoarding. And I must say on size 19 needles my first project is coming along very speediliciously! I forget which pattern it is by name, but it is a tank with a huge cowl neck. Super squishy pretty fun!
yellow_chunk_start
*Seriously I love it there, even their window displays are the cutest ever. Mini cakes all decorated pretty are in them right now, love it!

**Now it is fine not to like a chunky knit. Even I am a little wary of them, but if you are a yarn store owner who likes to actually sell yarn and needles to people, I recommend not being flamingly rude and snarky. Do not make comments to someone else and laugh and mock the customer who is very much in ear/eyeshot of you! Hello stupid store you didn't even know what I was using it for, rude, rude, rude! And due to my extremely offended reaction, I shall NEVER buy anything at the closest yarn store to my house again! Nope am done with them, they are almost always nasty anyway and whispering and gossiping about someone, who needs that? I shall drive 20 minutes farther to my yarn oasis with the happy nice and fun people instead :) But really, I miss my old LYS they were the best. So sad they closed last year.

08/14/07: Still Scrapghanning

I think I am up to 65 something squares now. With a goal of at least 300 to make the afghan. So far I have not needed to knit anymore socks in order to work on the scrapghan which is kind of amazing that I had that many scraps laying around. I don't think I will have enough for the whole afghan though, so more sock knitting will have to resume at some point.

08/13/07: Crochet Top Taking Up Whole Summer to Make!

Yikes I had great plans for 2 crochet strapless tops for this summer. So far I have both of them started and not much to show for it considering how fast they would technically go if I were working on them. Drat! Well still hoping I can manage one of them this month, I mean I do plan to be going to Bali in October anyway so I can wear them there at least. What you see below is how far I am with the bamboo yarn one. One side down and started on the second. I even found a pretty ribbon to weave through to tie the 2 colors together better (ribbon not pictured).
bamboo crochet top
This is a close up of the bottom lace stitch. With all the holes it really moves along quickly, but for now I am stuck on the back's top piece, must, finish, somehow.

08/10/07: Morning Web

spider web
Saw this by my parking spot the other morning. It is kind of hard to see the spider web in the small sized photo, but believe me it was huge and pretty!

08/09/07: Tulip Spinning

So I have still been spinning once in awhile. Here is my Spunky Club fiber, Tulip.
tulip_spin_start1.jpg
I am thinking this shall stay a single ply. i split this into thirds and so have only one more third to go!

08/07/07: Well I Was Knitting Socks Way Back in June

This is my spunky club dandelion superwash merino hand spun yarn. Starting to knit it into a lacy sock. So far really like the feel of it, but set it aside because I have to pay too much attention to the pattern and don't have that kind of quiet time at the moment.
dandelion_sock_start.jpg
I have not really been working on this sock for a month or so, really slacking on the 52PP idea. Oh well, I have been making more scrapghan squares though, up to about 60 now.

08/01/07: Berries!

Well I still love the wild rasberry bush. We had some lovelies this year!

berry_rock.jpg

And me Mum is crocheting an afghan that matched the blueberries she was eatin'.

berry_crochet.jpg

And of course goofing off in the pool is fun too! I know it isn't really a giant berry. But look you can see me taking the picture in the middle!

07/30/07: Rockin'

OK thanks Tante J for naming me a Rockin' Girl Blogger! Right back at ya :)

rgb.jpg

Um so yeah who shall I bestow the honor to? I think I shall keep it in the family today.

So...

Sandi, fyi you Rock.

Nikol, you too Rock.

Michelle, girlie you Rock.

Laura, yep you Rock.

Marianne, bet you didn't know you Rock too!

...and that m'dears is that. You are now awarded the RGB award by moi. Congratulations!

07/30/07: This is How We Picnic Round Here

theHead.jpg

Yummmm!! Ok so I know people who eat the ears and tongue and gross parts, but I just like the regular meat off the spit :) Pig and lamb roasts are such fun!

07/22/07: Scrapghan & Dress

scrapghan_42sqB.jpg

Still barely knittin' the socks I said I would be, mostly just makin' little scrapghan squares. I am up to 42 now.

scrapghan_42sqA.jpg

And I finally actually wore the knitted dress last weekend, just thought I would put this up for the heck of it.

rebecca_dress.jpg

07/19/07: Happy Friday to You!

yellow_flower.jpg

Backyard flowers. Yay, yellow!

07/18/07: Out Shopping

Check out the pretty sunset we saw while out shopping the other day.

sunset_acmoore.jpg

The Ma treated us to Coffee Coolattas after we saw this, I love summer!

07/06/07: Sock Scraps

Am behind on knitting my socks, have not been so into knitting them this past couple weeks. But I have been using up the scraps from socks I have finished over the years.

purplegrey_cord.jpg

I had a couple of ideas for a sock scrap afghan in my head for some time now. Started by making some icord and planned to knit something chunky and quick.

purplegrey_cord_scale.jpg

That is a size 1 sock needle for scale, the orange needles are 35's.

tiger_cord.jpg

While it was fun all chunky and huge, it just didn't work so well with only scraps of yarn leftovers, it might be fun to do with full balls of yarn though.

Then I thought well I have been liking to crochet lately, perhaps a granny square afghan. But with all the color changing and striping yarns it was coming out scary.

So I am going with a mitered square afghan. The stripes are pretty fun this way and so far and I have 20 squares since they are so quick to knit, and not one uses the same yarn yet. There will be plenty of repeats in the end to be sure. The pieces are coming out to be 4 inch squares. Here are some of what I have so far.

sock_scrap_afghan.jpg

Although I have to admit I have thought of seaming these into one long crazy sweater jacket. We shall see as time goes on what it ends up being.

07/05/07: Spunky Single

blue-pink_batt_spun.jpg

Finished spinning the spunky batt.

06/27/07: Still Spinning Spunky

Ok so I have no wheel :( But that isn't stopping me from spinning spunky altogether.

spunky_batt.jpg

This is a pretty batt Amy sent me after a little snafu with my club order. She is just lovely. Thank you! Such great service. So I am using a drop spindle and it was just so nice outside I decided to spin poolside for a bit this past weekend.

spunky_batt_start.jpg

Am also loving cotton dresses this summer you see. Got this little number at target, love it!

spunky_batt_dress1.jpg

06/26/07: More Phildar Crochet

So here is the start of another little crochet project.

phildar_pink_brown_start.jpg

I am ready to switch to the brown, might look a little funny in the end but I hope not. You see I am actually being pretty good around here and using up the stash for these new projects, and well I didn't have enough in one color so the pinkish salmonish and brown better work together! The bamboo yarn I am using is quite lovely I must say.

06/24/07: Rebecca Dress is Finito!

Voila!

petticoat_dress_done.jpg

I started knitting this little number over 2 years ago. And well I actually knit it up right quick cause it was on 8's and that is chunky for me lately. But it was looking so miniature to me (rather I was looking plump to me), and I was lazy and didn't want to knit the straps and try it on to see how long they needed to be or if it would even fit. Yeah am all about the straight knitting, all those nasty finishing steps kill me.

So it sat in a pile for a long bit. Then I thought maybe if I pull it out and leave it on my table and it stares at me long enough I will have the will to finish it. Well that almost worked. I got to knitting the straps over 2 weeks, knitting a row here and there. But still not trying it on.

And then there was the yarn inventory and it still sat there undone. Well I finally tried it on after that and it seemed like it fit? What? Crazy talk. So then I was like well I have to finish it. Must attach the straps! Another couple weeks went by. They are attached at last!

petticoat_dress_ends.jpg

But the ends oh the countless ends!!!! I couldn't fathom doing all that weaving so I let it sit again. Then got to thinking it is kinda revealing on top, perhaps it needs a shrug. Fiddled with the scraps and knitted up a one skein wonder one night. Cute! Love to knit. So fast! But ugh, now I have created more ends. I suck!

petticoat_dress_bolero.jpg

Anywho it was a battle. But the ends are tucked (the ones that show anyway :) And now I can finally declare this a finished knit! Fabu! Perhaps I need a finishing elf to wrap up all my loose ends here. So many more things are so close...but I see no cigars.

petticoat_dress_done2.jpg

06/19/07: Side Unwindin'

sidewinders_toosmall_1.jpg

Well I love the pattern, not sure I love the yarn I used, and I made a too small size, so I will be ripping out my first sidewinder sock. It is really sad because it was the BEST kitchener job I have ever done, I really could not see the seam at all, from the front or back it was a miracle, but alas will be gone soon.

sidewinders_toosmall_2.jpg

See how tight it was pulling around my ankle and heel? Ooops! Guess I measured my foot wrong cause I was right on gauge wise. I am thinking of hunting down another yarn to make this pattern with, or I might just still use this again, we shall see.

And Michelle I hope you can knit again soon, am always available to help you pick a pattern just let me know :)

06/18/07: Afterthoughts

So here is another pair for the plunge.

blue_purple_stripes_socks.jpg

I did an afterthought heel this time around to keep the stripes in pattern. I also lost the ball band on the yarn so I don't know what it is, but it was pretty nice to work with.

And I don't think I ever posted my zebra pair when it was finished, so here it is too.

zebra_socks_done.jpg

06/11/07: Sidewindin'

I have been following along with Nona but didn't get to knit much this weekend so I am going to try and get through Phase IV on my way home tonight so that I can do the grafting fun and finish tonight perhaps?

patriotic sidewidners

I am using Regia Nation color yarn to knit my Sidewinders. It is coming out pretty funky :) These are for when my feet get cold? watching 4th of July fireworks. Finally decided to knit this sock yarn up after seeing my sisters fun socks. Hers actually make little stars though, nifty! But yeah am having fun with this pattern so far.

In other sock news I did finish the Zebra socks for real and they are blocking, yay! And I just have 2 afterthought heels to whip through before I have my 5th pair of socks complete. Starting a month late is really making me play catch up forever in this 52 pair plunge!

06/06/07: It is Winnie's Birthday!

She turns one today! Happy Birthday Winnie! I just love my car :)

06/05/07: Call Me Crochet Crazy

crochet start of tank top

So lately I have been all lovin' crochet. Lookin' at all the granny square afghans and ripple afghans everyone has been making gave me the itch to crochet. Well I can't start another big project like that right now with so many undone, so instead I decided to order me a Phildar Summer Crochet Mag 471 all in French and give it a whirl on a smaller scale. I found my Great Aunt's hooks and am finally putting them to use again. Am making a little tank (pattern 31) that is pretty simple cause it is just a rectangle, which is good since I barely know how to crochet let alone crochet in french. Am using up more sock yarn for this project too cause I have so much!

crochet knit swatches with regia cotton surf

It is Regia cotton surf, I had 2 balls in a pretty subtle beachy color that I was making lacy knee highs with, but it just isn't elastic enough for that, so now it is going to be my cotton crocheted top. Yippy! Ok so I have not gotten that far with it yet, but it seems to be working out so far and I am excited to finish, hope that lasts cause I want to make so many more crocheted things!

That reminds me before I started this one I started a cute little makeup bag from One Skein. Using Aunt Lydias crochet yarn of some sort. It is very colorful and fun. But I am not sure if it is big enough? Anywho it is the need for a zipper that is holding up this project. Ok so yeah it is now out in the open I have added crochet to my list of fiber craziness.

bobble bag

06/04/07: Because I am a Little Nutty

I have set up a page just to keep track of my 52 Pair Plunge progress.

I thought I would have 2 new pairs to show today, but instead I will be ripping out one sock out of each of those pairs. That is what I get for leaving old socks without mates for so long. I knit the same amount of rows and stitches but they came out completely different sizes. So my progress is still one sock for both the kool aid dyed and zebra socks, darn I was so close to finishing those. Oh well.

Here is the pic of the 2 different sized socks.
koolaid_toobig.jpg

and here is what I have for the zebra socks.
zebra_start.jpg

So cause I was mad at the socks I have been crocheting a tank instead. No pictures of that yet cause I keep forgetting to upload them. But am diggin' the crochet lately so there you have it. It isn't done yet either though cause I am using sock yarn to make it and it is kinda tiny, rats.

Check out what the other plungers have been up to. I love hand knit socks!
52 pair plunge

05/31/07: Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Strizzy!

So went to DC this past weekend and got to meet up with an old friend from school who saved Strug from my traffic lateness. Thank You L! And the next day we did a little sight seeing (have pics but those aren't ready yet). And then we went to a wedding, yay!

For now I just wanna say congrats to the happy couple, thanks for letting me share in your joy, and wow that Strizzy can put on a pretty wedding. Look how beautiful the reception was!!!

strizz_wedding1.jpg

strizz_wedding2.jpg

Oh and check us out at the White House. I look kinda doofy cause I spilled food on my classy self early on in the night. I blame the margaritas! I had to tie my stole thingy around me like a napkin to hide it. NICE! eh well everyone else looked good :)

05/31/07: Another Pair Finito!

So I finished my handspun Candy Stripe Monkey Socks!

candy stripe monkey socks done!

Yarn: My Handspun (merino fluff from Spunky Eclectic that I dyed with kool aid and plied with some undyed fiber)
Needles: US 1 (magic Loop)
Pattern: Plain St St sock with Garter short row heel
Count: Pair 3 of 52

Um so I should be at 9 pairs done this weekend. Am thinking I might be at 5 if I am lucky!

05/30/07: Navajo'd Strawberries

Finished plying the purty pink and green Spunky. Just in time since her next batch should be arriving any day now.

strawberry fields plied

strawberry fields yarn

I am thinking this will be a pair of gloves someday. Won't be knitting them til it gets colder out though :)

05/22/07: Strawberry Fields Forever!

So I didn't think I would be spinning for awhile but technically I still have the wheel while the sister is out of town. So I got to start on the latest Spunky Club fiber, 4oz. of Corriedale she calls Strawberry Fields. Joy!

05/17/07: Rule of Thumb

Always loved the rule of thumb I learned in my painting class in college, "any canvas larger than 36 inches NEEDS a crossbar." I was told this only after making a few big canvas' that were all bendy and twisty with no support. Good times. I wanna paint again. Hmmmm. Maybe a bit tinier this time around.

05/17/07: Oh Yeah and Finished a Bit More Spinning

As I try to use up the stash in my sock knitting fever seems I forgot to post about some spinning I finished up a little bit ago.

It started out all fluffy and pretty:

just startin the walkabout

And then became this:

walkabout plied

Here is a close up:

walkabout close up

This is more spunky club fluff naturally. It is the "Walkabout" colorway. Love pink and brown, and blue and brown. So pink, blue, and brown is even better!

05/16/07: Pair Number 2 Down!

Number 2, hee hee!

Anywho here they are in all their finito'd glory.

Easter Socks

Yarn: Online
Needles: US 1 (magic Loop)
Pattern: Knit 3, Purl 1tbl Ribbing with a no wrap heel
Count: Pair 2 of 52

These were knit for one of my Aunts. So off to the post office sometime soon to brave the new pricing craziness.

So far I feel like a maniac speed knitter on the train. That is when all the sock knitting is happening, with a little home time for kitchenering the toes. But it turns out I can knit almost 30 rounds of plain stocking stitch during my one hour train ride into work if I am really awake, not bad. So no more train naps for me, I got some socks to knit!

05/14/07: First Pair Complete!

Voila!

Tiger Socks

Yarn: Opal Rainforest Tiger
Needles: US 2
Pattern: Basic Sock with a no wrap heel
Count: Pair 1 of 52

I knit these several times for my brother but the size just wasn't quite right on him so I kept putting them on hold. Well as it turns out they are a perfect fit for my father, thus he gets his first pair of handknit socks. Yippy they are done!

Am about to kitchener the second toe of another pair, so exciting isn't it?

05/12/07: Serious Second Sock Syndrome Stops Suddenly

Yup I cast on for a second sock this week, I can hardly believe it!

Now I know I knit a pair of socks back in March rather quickly, but that was a rarity and only because I spun the yarn and was dying to see how it all knit up.

So the pair of socks that might actually become a real pair are #3 in the crazy picture below. The Easter time socks.

I am a sock slacker

What are all the rest of those socks you ask? Well we found lots of started craziness in that wall of mine and so I am laying it all out now for y'all to see. 19 started sock projects there. Well actually only 18, one pair is just a gift I need to start. Still that is ridiculous. So many single socks.

I am not about to go all Harry Potter about this so I have decided to be completely insane and try to catch up and do the 52 pair plunge. It may be the only way I ever finish some pairs of socks. I certainly have the yarn for it so here it goes. I am 6 weeks late but I figure since I have much started I am ok to join now anyway. So by April 1st, 2008 I will have brought 52 more pairs of socks into the world, now there is an April fools if I ever heard one. Alas, I am serious about trying for it. The hubby seems to think I can do it, so wish me luck! (or wish me sanity or something)

05/09/07: My First MDSW!

This was my very first trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool festival and I have to send a super huge thanks to Alice for driving me even when I was nodding off (terrible navigator in the sun I was). The yarn acquired has upped my yardage to 150602.75 yards or 85.57 miles. Not too bad really because I only bought sock yarn and no sweater yarn, right? Well a lot of sock yarn, I managed to be the big buyer of the group. I just finished 3 single socks therefore I am knitting with lots of sock yarn right now so it's not that bad, he he he. More about the socks in a couple days, for now on to the many pics I have decided to share with y'all.

Here is a shot of the Delaware Bridge on the way there. Purty sunset, but right after that we decided we hate Delaware, stupid traffic!

delaware bridge

There were license plates to amuse us while we chugged along waiting to park Saturday morning.

goofy license plates

It was early while we waited in the souvenir line so Claudia could stock up on prizes so someone took a little nap :)

napping

Lots of cutie animals:

bunny

sheep

sheep

sheep

sheep

This is what I bought. I was a little sock crazy as I said. Been wanting to knit the fun Cookie patterns and needed solid sock yarn. Yes I am aware I bought more than just solid sock yarn, oops.

the haul

So that is Shelridge farm starting on the left, heathered and apricot, there was a loverly peacock blue too but I already gave that to the lil sis. Then 2 colorways of koigu. Next up are two colors skeined together of sock yarn from The Flock Bransonas. Some Louet Gems in a pretty light green. Tess Designs Laceweight merino (one for me one for my sis). Now for the top left there is Dzined wool/hemp. And 2 colors of Trekking sock yarn. phew!

Also got some spinning fun. Some cormo cause Sil's love for it in yarn form rubbed off on me, first time playing with this soft soft soft fluff. Already tested it out on the hand spindle.

the fluff

And then some other fluff which I am blanking on where it came from at the moment. But Rosemary said it was lovely to spin so I got me some.

the fluff

And finally since I have been wanting a bunny I had to get some angora fluff after I saw Leigh's.

the fluff

Yummy food was eaten, hung out with some lovely ladies, and had a very nice weekend.

This is the Delaware bridge home.

going home

And here we are at the Tappan Zee. Thanks also to Leigh for showing me to the kettle corn, yummmm! It kept us happy on the drive.

tappan zee

And another plate we saw. There was another girlie named one but I didn't get a photo. Naturally only boys were driving these girlie plated cars?

more plates

Ok now that is all I have to say about that.

05/04/07: And the Winner Is...

Beth!!! She guessed 147,400 yards. So this Finn will be going to her, congrats!

finn

So what was the real number you ask? 146,040 yards! Beth was really close. It is the same as 83 miles of yarn. As crazy as that seems some of those guesses started to make me feel like I didn't have so much after all. he he he. Yeah I know it is still a lot. Oh well at least now I know where it all is :) Thanks Carolyn for all the help!

04/30/07: Guess My Yarn Yardage Contest!

So Ms. CrankyMonkeyButt made her way over to this neck of the woods for a work filled weekend. Most importantly she was my yarn inventory specialist. In preparation for Maryland I needed to know in miles why I should be restrained in my purchasing next weekend. Let me tell you this fiber fest shall be more about the socializing than the purchasing, which for me is very difficult I gotta say. Anywho in light of the monumental yardage we uncovered, I am going to have a little contest.

Leave me a comment or send me an email of how many yards of yarn you think I have in my stash including the wall of yarn and some baskets of afghan yarn. Closest one to the truth wins some of my handspun!

wall o stash

Current photo of the wall of yarn above.

Below are some little hints to help you make your guess.

1. Each cube is about one foot cubed of space.
2. There are a total of 43 cubes that contain yarn. The others are notions and fluff and do not add to the yardage.
3. Outside the wall I have almost 15000 yards of afghan and in progress yarn which is part of my total stash yardage.
4. There are scores of miles of yarn in the wall.
5. I tend to like thinner yarn, DK weight to laceweight, which makes for more yards per skein.
6. It is more yardage than Monica has, yikes!

Here is a pic of most of the cubes with yarn (greens ones were added later so you have to guess how full those are).

Ok so that is it. Please send in your guesses by Thursday, May 3rd, 5pm EST. I will announce the winner on Friday. Then it is off to Maryland!

Good Luck!

04/22/07: Cocktails Anyone?

spinningdrinks

Yarn cocktails that is. So I have definitely been adding to the stash, and without buying a thing! I still have some more yarn in the works with hopes that I finish it before the wheel moves on later this week, but if not I will get it done on a tv night visit later.

First we have some 3-ply sock yarn I made to knit socks for the hubby. I used the Down in Flames Spunky sock spinning kit. And man it seems to have a lot of yardage! So perhaps I will get matching footies out of it too. But this was fun because I spun the yellow/orange, red, and black fluff separatly and triple plied it so it is mostly the same throughout but with little changes in the yellow orange strand and the red strand changes to pinkish sometimes, but the black is steady. Should be interesting to see how it knits up. The little skein is the nylon plied with what was left to knit the heels and toes.

Next up is the Finn. This is Spunky's November selection called "Pie in the Sky" I really love this colorway and it is a pretty wooly yarn. Not sure yet what I will use it for but it will be something warm.

finn spin spools

I just did a 2-ply for this one.

And below is some of Spunky's Berry Pickin' BFL. Navajo Plied. This came out super soft and airy, a fun pair of gloves perhaps? I think it might be more of a DK weight yarn.

Then I spun up the March Spunky Club fiber, Dandelion, superwash merino. This I did 2-ply and am thinking some sort of cheery shawl may come out of it.

daffodils spun

Ok that is it for now. I guess it is a good the the wheel will be going, now I might actually knit some of this up :)

P.S. Can you tell how much I love Spunky's fiber? Maybe it is cause she is an Amy too!

04/19/07: Ripple Socks...sort of

zig socks

I am using the Ripple Socks pattern from Socks Socks Socks, but skipped the reverse stocking rows cause they were a little too much. These are gift socks and going along nicely so far. I usually knit on size 1 needles so being on 2's these seem like they are zipping by.

Since I got the short row thing down in garter stitch from the garden scarf and because Beth suggested it I tried the Lucy Neatby garter stitch heel too. Love it!! It really does fit well and I didn't have a gap or hole issue, woot! Glad she mentioned it and that I finally tried it out.

04/18/07: No Pictures...yet...

So I have been spinning lots lately but have not uploaded any pics yet. Laziness is the main culprit there. Anywho as I said, I have been spinning lots and it is because the sister is moving out next week! Why does that make a gal spin you ask? Well because technically it is her wheel and she will be taking it with her, shameful. So soon I shall be wheel-less!!! and the spinning will have to be done manually, he he, with a drop spindle. That shall slow me down quite a bit I must say, so sad. But I have a good reason to go visiting I suppose :) Anywho in honor of her move she has also moved her blog once again, this time to wordpress so it is easier, now she better keep it up! But she did post a purty necklace there so go check it out...and I will have spinning pics here soonish.

04/12/07: Yet Another Scarf

Got some loverly Rowan "Tapestry" yarn the other day and decided to figure out a short row scarf of sorts. Oddly I can't do a real short row in a sock but in this garter stitch scarf it seems to be working out ok. Very odd. Anywho I got the idea from a few places on the web (of course I have no idea where those places are now) that I saw versions of a wavy scarf so I fiddled around to try and make one for meself. I also held a strand of mint green Kid Silk haze with the wool yarn, which is making it extra soft and loverly on the skin. Good thing Spring seems like a cruel joke at the moment so I am still knittin' on the cold weather items.

04/08/07: Completed Capecho!

capecho collage

At last all the ends are woven in! And although it seemed like it was going to be on the large size, I think it ended up pretty close to how I wanted it. The most important thing was detaching the collar. The pattern called for a 1:1 ratio of neck band stitches to the body, but that made it very drapey and not easy to keep on. So I ripped that out and then sewed on the collar picking up 1 stich of the body to 1 stich of collar and then 2 stiches of body to 1 stich of collar. This did the trick. Now it is all closer to my shoulders and doesn't fall all over the place. Woo hoo! Still it is a little looser than the pattern photo so beware, but I feel it is wearable so phew, no wasted knitting time for me.

04/06/07: Happy Easter!

This sock just looks right for the occassion.

easter sock

Every time I work on it I think it is just too ugly to bother. But then well, as Sandi says, "It is SPECTACULARLY UGLY!" Which means it is just so ugly that you can't help but like it. So now I will think of it as the easter sock cause well that is what the colors seem to go with today. Hope everyone has a loverly day!

(I accidentally typed in "Hop" the first time around, such a festive typo.)

04/01/07: Dough Poo

I guess this is my April Fools for this year.

Yuck!

It was time to get rid of some old gingerbread dough saved to bake cookies but I just never had the time. I caught someone else in the house making little poo sculptures with it, aren't they fabulous? I mean nasty! That is some sweet smellin' poo.

Oh, and the image on the left is actually a clump of clay I made in a ceramics class for some texture assignment, my mother has always liked it. Which is something I could never understand since it has a clear resemblance of something not so pleasant.

This is one classy post isn't it? Eh well, happy April Fools!

03/30/07: Portfolio Update

this years holy trinity 5K t-shirt

Above is a little t-shirt design I did last year.

And so, in following the progress pages update we now have the portfolio page update. So exciting I know. Again the page actually links to photos of stuff I have done. Now if I can only get myself to update the patterns page...
