07/30/07: This is How We Picnic Round Here

Yummmm!! Ok so I know people who eat the ears and tongue and gross parts, but I just like the regular meat off the spit :) Pig and lamb roasts are such fun!
12/19/06: Carmel Corn!
Well I do love to bake and stuff during this time of year. And since my Grandmother is here with us it is even more fun. So we had a carmel corn party one night. She started this a few years back when we would all visit my grandparents over the school holiday break. It was fun as a kid and it is fun now if you ask me. It is the shaking in between microwaving that makes it a party, always a good laugh when watching someone doing the ouch! hot bag! shake it like mad! dance. Although we tried something new this time around, splenda brown sugar for baking. It actually came out crunchier and tastier than ever, so I highly recommend splenda for this one.
11/28/06: Slacker Poster That's Me
Hello there. I still have not uploaded any photos since well before my vacation back in october. Terrible. I keep meaning to and I keep taking more photos with means to post, but still they sit in my little camera memory card. So sad. And now it is holiday time and I am all behind before it really gets going as usual. I suppose I like being a procrastinator, since that is what I am, I have now come to accept it fully.Anywho let me tell you how I loved cooking for Thanksgiving this year. Lots! Yup, strange I am, but I had a blast. Everything seemed to time out perfectly and there was lots of help setting up and cleaning and chopping so it all went super smooth and then super yummy, especially one of the new items to the table. Butternut Squash Soup. MMMM. Made it from scratch along with the cranberry sauce (I had no idea how easy that would be, we have always been from the can kind of people). Everyone even took turns making butter! We just poured some heavy cream into a jar and passed it around for people to shake. It was done just in time for us to realize it was super yummy and thus needed fresh biscuts to spread it on. Back to the kitchen STAT! And to top it all off I had made some pumpkin cream cheese icecream with graham cracker crust in these cute little pumpkin molds I have. Delish.
And you guessed it although pictures were taken, there are no pictures here. As is now customary on this site let me just say I will add them some day. Or maybe not, if my comfort with procrastination continues.
There was even some adventure in the life of a family with a curious cat on our Thanksgiving day. However, that is another story that I will let my sister tell. (Note to sister: Please post the story missy!)
08/04/06: Fun New Toy in the House
This summer we are makin' our own soda/pop! Silly little contraption really works and you can make your soda/pop faster than kool aid! Nifty I say. Can you tell we are trying to stay cool with whatever liquids we can come up with around here?
08/03/06: Daqueri's in the Ice Cream Maker
The ice maker has been on the fritz, so we improvised. Instead of crushing ice for a refreshing drink we froze it up into smoothie mode in the ice cream maker. It worked rather well. Then it was important to top it off with some fresh whipped cream. (insert satisfying sipping noise and ahhhh here)
