First Fine Arts & Craft Sale

So I did a little craft fair and sold my soaps for the first time this past weekend. It was fun! And was also fun making all the soap before hand. It looks soooo cute when you have a bunch of strawberry cheesecakes and cookies all together :) Plus the kitchen was all full of good smells as if I were baking but nothing fattening here. Phew!

In the end I also made up lots of labels and business cards and put up a little web page. I will be updating it at some point with individual pics of all the types of soap I make, but for now it is a holder and a way to contact me if you want to place an order or what not. Anywho I am so far loving making soap even though I ran out of time to make my whipped shea butter and lip balms I will still be doing it at some point. yay soap! (p.s. I do still knit, see the little face cloths under some of the soap?)

I have decided to pitch in late to this good cause. Am frantically searching for some red yarn in the stash and going to get started right away.

Deadline for mailing is December 15th so I better get a move on :)

Sheer Shrunk Poncho

Oops!!! Presenting my not so sheer poncho anymore. I tried washing in cold water on the hand wash cycle of the machine today, turns out jagger spun zephyr yarn felts even under those gentle conditions, next time I will have to wash by actual hand only!!! Even though it used to be a nice soft shoulder cover up, the fabric came out super even and pretty and so it does kinda work as a neck warmer. Not a total waste.

Sometimes drawing little computer help icons leads to making goofy space dudes. Dunno why this happens. But here he is just the same.

Getting Cooler Means Time to Knit

Picked up a really old project the other day. I believe I started this back in 2004 according to my old notes. Wow! I was almost halfway through at that point, and now I am about 65% done. It is going quickly and was easy to get back into which was a relief. I am hoping to have a really nice lapghan soon :)

Egg-cellent Tie Dyes!

tie_dye_done.jpg

Back at easter time we tried out a new to us technique for dying. And I have to say I see why it would be so popular. It was fast, easy, CLEAN, and the results are like magic. Very fun. Not a drop of dye on the hands or anywhere else in the kitchen, yay!!

tie_die_making.jpg

You just wrap the eggs in some old silk ties and an old sheet and then boil them for 20 minutes, when they are cool you get to see the magic. The unwrapping was the most fun part, the eggs really take on the prints of the ties very well.

tie_dye_ties.jpg

You get about 3 eggs per tie. Here is a link on the "how to" if you wanna try it yourself sometime: Silk-Tie Easter Eggs or the updated video using scarves as well Silk-Dyed Easter Eggs.
